Welcome to the PhysioRoom.com blog. Members of the PhysioRoom.com team will be updating the blog with our sporting participation though the year.
Yearֳ resolutions for the year ahead. Getting fit is at the top of my list. This month I have signed up to two events which will both involve a certain amount of training for.
The first event I have signed up to is the Great North Swim, a one mile open water swim in Lake Windermere.
I did this event two years ago and I will be looking to beat my time of 34 minutes. Unfortunately, it was cancelled last year due to poisonous algae!! To avoid the algae the event has been brought forward to June this year. So for this I will be doing pool time and, when the weather gets a bit warmer, I will be joining Rochdale Triathlon Clubֳ open water swims in Cowm Park Reservoir, Whitworth, Lancashire.
The second event is a lot more challenging: The Big Ben Triathlon, Ben Nevis, Fort William. I will be doing the half version of this event, which is still an Olympic size Triathlon: 1km swim in a Sea Loch; 45km Mountain Bike Ride on hard fast glen trails; and to finish a 14km run up Ben Nevis! Colleagues Ben and Pete will also be˰articipating so they will also give updates to their training via this blog. How will I get fit enough to do this? I֭ not quite sure… follow this blog for updates on how I am getting along.
The road to fitness will start next Tuesday; a new company five aside game of football has been arranged at Blackburn Powerleague SoccerDome, which will help with fitness, although I did pick up groin and thigh injuries when playing, out of condition, last year, so compression shorts and a good warm up will be in order.
