• Dr Ulrike Muschaweck Biography – Surgical Chief

Dr Ulrike Muschaweck is the surgical chief and founder at the Hernia Center Dr. Muschaweck Munich, the largest European centre that exclusively specialises in hernias of the abdominal wall and groin region. Since 1989 Dr Muschaweck has worked solely on developing techniques in hernia surgery. She took up residence in her own medical practice as a surgical specialist in 1993 and since then has worked exclusively in the field of hernia surgery.

Dr Muschaweck has developed some new hernia repair techniques in recent years that have revolutionised patient care. The two most important ones are the so-called “Minimal Repair” Technique of the groin and the “Munich Repair” Technique of umbilical hernias. Due to the gentle surgical technique, this method is especially suited for top athletes.

The “Minimal Repair” method of repairing a hernia is done under a local anaesthetic, meaning the patient is awake during the short procedure and can walk out of the operating room.

Patients at the Hernia Center Dr. Muschaweck Munich come from all over the world as the new surgical techniques mean that they can be back at work the following day. The clinic is conveniently located in the city centre, easily accessible from the airport.
