“Great...except”

I have a chronic dislocating shoulder. This worked great. Even great for bigger chests (I found it more comfy to put the strap under my breast rather than over).
However, I ordered the largest size based on bicep measurement. I'm not skinny, but not big. Much smaller than the guy in the picture. But after an hour I would have grooves on my bicep and pain. Just too tight. Please get some bigger sizes!!

I am a medium sized woman. I had torn a deltoid muscle which was very painful and hoped that the shoulder strap would help support the shoulder area and keep it warm, since warmth, in the form of a wheat bag heated in the microwave, helped.
I bought the largest size as per the measurement around the bicep area. It was unsatisfactory for a number of reasons:
- The shoulder area was so big that it hardly even touched my shoulder.
- Even though I had ordered the largest size for the biceps it felt rather too tight around my arm to wear for an extended period.
-The elastic band that goes under the armpit area on the opposite side of the injured shoulder was so stiff that it felt as though it was slicing into the armpit. I am small bosomed, so that was not an issue.
Looking at the highly muscled men at my gym, I think the shoulder area in the large size would probably fit them quite well, but the section over the biceps would be much too smal considering that it felt tight on me. The length from the neck to the end of shoulder of the large size is 20cm. My shoulder length is only 15cm.
I would suggest that the biceps area needs to be redesigned somehow so that it's adjustable in order to accommodate different size biceps.
The strength of the elastic is good, but there needs to be some way of preventing it from slicing into the armpit.
Although the one I bought was not suitable, I've kept it and will unpick it and alter it for my needs the next time I have a shoulder problem.
I think it would help if the length between the neck and the shoulder were to be stated and also to have more sizes than small, medium and large.
I feel reluctant to give it a poor star rating because it seems like a good idea, but the product needs to be further developed before it suits a good range of people.

I have an ongoing problem with an old rotator cuff injury which plays up now and again. The support is good in that it compresses the shoulder providing good support, however there are a couple of things that need improving:

1) I ordered the large size but struggled to get my arm (bicep) through the sleeve. After a couple of hours wearing it, my arm was considerably painful.
2) the support made me sweat, making it uncomfortable.
3) the strap digs into you armpit as the edges are sharp (relatively speaking)
4) the Velcro section kept partially folding over as I wore it meaning a part of the Velcro rubbed against my chest-not nice.

I accept that I'm larger than the average lad so may not be an issue to someone of 'standard' build (I'm 6ft 4 with a 48" chest).

I sustained a rotator cuff tear last year, and it has been an ongoing problem which keeps occurring. I previously purchased the ProCare Shoulder Sling last year and wanted something which would support my shoulder as wearing the sling does cause pain in other places like your elbow after wearing it for a few days. The Vulkan shoulder strap is perfect. It not only supports the shoulder but it also keeps it warm and seems to be accelerating healing as it isnt as painful as it was. Advice to check your sizing though as they are small fitting, being female and of a slim build I ordered a small and it wouldnt fit, however the PhysioRoom were great and sorted a return out and I re ordered a medium. An excellent buy well recomended!!

Recovering from open shoulder surgery (due to a sports dislocation) and I'm very pleased with the Vulkan strap. A regular sling has become painful for me because it forces my elbow into an L shape and doesn't allow the fluid to drain properly from my shoulder. The Vulkan lets my arm hang naturally straight and provides some compression to my shoulder. It made me feel safer at the grocery store today in case someone had jostled my arm accidentally. Note that I wasn't able to wear the Vulkan until 6 days after open surgery.

I also searched high and low for a brace that would fit a woman with a larger bust size and finally found the Vulkan. I'm a 36 C and the Vulkan fits me nicely without crossing my chest. I highly recommend it for other women.
