The Aircast Shoulder Cryo/Cuff™ requires a cooler and tube assembly, which are available separately, as well as part of a complete Shoulder Cryo/Cuff™ Kit.
How it Works
The Aircast Shoulder Cryo/Cuff™ combines the therapeutic benefits of compression and ice therapy to cure shoulder pain. The Shoulder Cryo/Cuff™ is the ultimate in ice therapy and compression for shoulder injuries. It consists of a nylon cuff, the blue plastic cooler and blue rubber tubing with connecting valves.
Iced water from the cooler circulates through the cuff, which fits snugly around the shoulder joint and is secured with Velcro straps. The water pressure applies a compression of 30 mm Hg to the injured shoulder when the reservoir cooler is held 50 cm above the cuff. This comfortable compression and cooling is maintained when the connecting valve is disconnected.
This ice therapy and compression can be continued over a whole day or evening as the cooler holds enough water and ice for between six and eight hours of treatment. This makes it a far superior treatment than an ice pack.
When to use it
Many elite athletes such as tennis professionals and professional rugby players use this product to provide shoulder pain relief. Recreational athletes can also benefit from using the Aircast Cryo/Cuff™. They are most commonly used following shoulder injuries and following surgery to the shoulder joint.
