Dr Mark Myerson Biography - Orthopedic & Medical Director

Photo of Dr Mark Myerson Mark S. Myerson, M.D. is the renowned Orthopedic and Medical Director for The Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr Myerson is one of the world's foremost experts on foot and ankle reconstruction and injury. He has pioneered surgical techniques that have revolutionised the diagnosis, treatment and recovery of disorders of the foot and ankle. His outstanding knowledge of foot and ankle conditions means that he is the expert of choice for many elite athletes from the NFL, NBA and European soccer leagues. DR Myerson is widely travelled, and is the frequent guest speaker for numerous national and international organizations. He continues to spearhead groundbreaking research into foot and ankle injury and reconstruction, has authored more than 200 professional publications including 5 textbooks and is currently the editor of two orthopedic journals.

Dr Myerson is the immediate past President of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS). Dr. Myerson works in Baltimore, Maryland in the USA, and has together with Mercy Medical Center built a state-of-the-art facility where he and his expert staff are committed to providing patients with unparalleled care and clinical excellence. The Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction has extensive Gait Analysis facilities that utilise the latest technology to help get to the cause of a patient’s foot or ankle problem. All investigations such as x-rays, scans and vascular evaluations are available on site for convenience. Where necessary custom made orthotic supports are constructed within the clinic, following patient evaluation by expert orthotists. Surgical patients benefit from the skill and compassion of a totally dedicated operating room team that has extensive experience in foot and ankle surgery. Follow up care is provided by a highly skilled physical therapy team, who are able to quickly restore mobility and aid patient recovery.

Dr. Myerson completed his internship and undergraduate degree in Cape Town, South Africa. He served as an Orthopedic Resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Maryland, completed his Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York and served as the Director of Foot and Ankle Services at Union Memorial Hospital until 2001 when he moved his practice to Mercy Medical Center.
