Support & Compression Socks

Our range of Support & Compression socks are ideal for running and are particularly popular amongst marathon runners because of their blister free features. Blisters can be very common during marathon running, as friction on the surface of the foot can cause the layers of skin to rub together and form a pocket of fluid or blood.

Support & Compression Socks

First up we have a neoprene ankle protector sock that is made using exclusive NEO-II™ material to ensure durability and resilience. Treated with MMT™ technology to wick sweat away and keep the skin dry, the ankle support has contour fit design and is treated with AM-S™ for anti-microbial properties. The protector has a toe-opening to ensure strong grip. Click here to view RDX A2 Anklet Support Compression Sock!

We also have the 1000 Mile Ultimate compression socks that apply a graduated compression which accelerates blood circulation and aids muscle recovery as well as reducing toxins. Wear for running as well as during, and following, sporting activities to increase lymphatic drainage which removes waste products from the muscles. Also wear when traveling by air, rail or road to reduce the risk of developing a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). To learn more about the 1000 Mile Ultimate Compression Socks click here!

Whereas if you're looking for something to keep you comfortable while travelling, these flight compression socks provide graduated compression to help improve circulation on long journeys and during periods of inactivity. Great for all types of travel, the compression socks feature a shaped heel cup for accurate positioning and a reinforced toe for comfort and durability, as well as a comfort top band. With a graduated compression level of 14-18 mmHg, the compression socks aid circulation when stationary for long periods. Try the Neo G Travel & Flight Compression Socks now!

What are the benefits of compression socks?

Compression socks are designed to help improve circulation in the feet and lower legs. Due to the affects of gravity, prolonged standing and the distance away from the heart, circulation to these extremities can often be reduced, leading to injuries and poor healing capacity. Compression socks work by improving the efficiency of blood vessels in pumping blood back towards the heart so they can aid in recovery from injuries to the feet, lower legs or after heavy bouts of exercise to enhance recovery and help prevent injuries occurring.

Do compression socks really work?

Compression socks help alleviate issues caused by poor circulation, by improving the efficiency of blood return to the heart, from the extremities. Improved circulation can help to reduce the risk factors that can cause blood clots or potentially strokes.

Compression socks provide support to the legs and help "pump" venous blood out of the leg when you walk, thereby reducing the pressure in the veins and helping with the symptoms caused by varicose veins.

Do compression socks work running?

There is mixed evidence about how effective compression socks are for running activities. They have become an increasingly popular sight during races or at athletic meetings and are thought to provide benefits to circulation and blood flow by improving venous return to get blood back up to the heart more efficiently during exercise. However, it has also been stipulated that wearing compression socks during activities such as running, can reduce power output of the lower leg muscles therefore increasing muscle fatigue. Runners often wear compression socks because it gives them support and comfort, therefore, there is no harm in wearing specially designed socks such as 1000 Mile products during activity which can help to stimulate the flow of blood. However, the benefits of compression socks may best be reaped after activity to enhance recovery and help prevent injuries.

Can you sleep in compression socks?

When you are laid down, calf muscles act as "pumps" to aid the return of blood to the heart is diminished therefore compression socks can help to aid this function by compressing the muscles and improving the venous return. Depending on individual conditions, it is always a good idea to check with your Doctor first before sleeping in Compression socks.

Should I wear compression socks when flying?

Due to the reduced air pressure whilst flying, circulation can be reduced leading to an increased risk of blood clotting. Wearing compression socks can help improve circulation and blood flow, to help reduce the risk of life-threatening problems such as Deep vein Thrombosis.

Can wearing compression socks be harmful?

Usually for sporting activities there is no harm in wearing compression socks, however, with circulatory conditions such as Diabetes or after a Stroke, it is vital that compression stockings are measured and worn correctly. Seek advice from your Doctor to ensure the correct socks are worn as in some cases, ill-fitting stockings could further increase the risk of thrombosis.
