What is the Pro Care Dorsiwedge™ Night Splint?

A soft padded night splint for prolonged Plantar Fascia stretch, for treatment of Plantar Fasciitis.

When can I use it?

Wear at night for effective treatment of Plantar Fasciitis - prevents shortening of the Plantar Fascia.

Which size do I need?

Fits left or right foot. Based on UK shoe size.

  • Small:
Youth Size Men's up to Size 2, Ladies' up to size 3
  • Medium:
    Men's 2-6, Ladies' 3-6.5
  • Large:
    Men's 6.5-9, Ladies' 7-9.5
  • X-Large:
    Men's 9+, Ladies' 10+

How does it work?

The soft padded shell surrounds the back of the Calf, around the heel and under the sole of the foot. Three fabric straps with Velcro fasten the night splint in place. This keeps the foot at 90 degrees to the shin bone, with keeps a sustained stretch on the Plantar Fascia. A full length toe wedge is also included for additional stretch of the Plantar Fascia.

If this stretch is sustained for a prolonged period (e.g. overnight) the Plantar Fascia is held in a better position for healing. Research has shown that night splinting is effective in relieving symptoms in over 80% of cases of Plantar Fasciitis.

The Pro Care Dorsiwedge™ Night Splint has a removable liner that can be washed for patient hygiene.

“Easy to put on and comfortable to wear”

Reviewed by Anonymous on 31 January 2012

My problem was the extreme discomfort and pain experienced during the night. The first night I wore the night splint was the first full nights sleep that I had for a couple of weeks without pain. I have also worked out when I watch TV I normally have my legs up on the sofa. After a period of time the discomfort in my foot starts and would carry on into the night. I now either sit with my feet on the floor or put the splint on. The splint is light and comfortable to wear. Just make sure you order the right size.

“Does the job for me!”

Reviewed by top668atntlworld.com on 15 January 2012

I'm a size 9/9.5 uk and after reading reviews opted for the medium size splint and I think I made the right decision. It fits very well, in fact I think the large would have been too big! It is very comfortable, soft and light to wear. I can wear it all night with no discomfort. I find you don't have to wear it too tight either for it to do it's job. I've got something similar to plantar (some docs say it is pf others disagree as the pain doesn't go to the end of my foot - if anyone has any ideas what it could be please let me know!!) but the first few steps every morning are soooo painful. If I wear this splint I get no pain at all, and the pain throughout the day is reduced too (i.e if I sit at my desk for an hour then get up I get the early morning first steps pain too!) I went for this model as apposed to any of the others as it didn't have a strap going from the toe to the top of the splint, which means I can sleep on my front easier. Before this I tried the strassburg sock which does work too but is far more uncomfortable to wear imo. Highly recommended.

“NOT PERFECT, BUT COMFORTABLE”

Reviewed by Anonymous on 04 January 2012

I find the splint comfortable to wear, but a bit bulky in bed, it helps support my foot and the pain is not so bad when first standing up. Yes it helps but is not a cure and when not wearing it the pain is back.

“Very Good”

Reviewed by Anonymous on 09 August 2011

This product gave me 95% relief on the very first night or should I say during the first steps of the morning after. I was amazed. I stepped out of bed gingerly, preparing for that wincing pain and it was not there!! So much so that I noticed a small amount of pain in my 'good' foot.
I've continued to wear it for several nights now and my condition is improving daily. The wedge is essential. An additional plus is that it cannot hurt your other foot as it is padded.

“Bad”

Reviewed by jediskip45 on 05 August 2010

I found this to be quite comfortable to wear and very easy to put on, but there is too much foot movement, the heel does not stay in the heel, no matter how tight you put this on.
Very poor design.

“It Didn't work for me.”

Reviewed by ufc43 on 30 June 2010

I bought one of these a few months ago from PhysioRoom.com. I have been wearing it every night since. It is easy to wear while sleeping but it is quite a big and bulky item. The problem I find with it is that it still allows quite a lot of movement of the heel. In other words, it did not keep my foot in the position it was suppose to. Without the wedge insert it is pointless to wear as the angle of your foot is not allowing for the plantar muscle to stretch. When the wedge is inserted it is a little better but no matter how well you strap your leg in there is still too much movement at the heal area which means that the angle your foot is at is increased (more than 90 degrees) and therefore the Plantar Muscle is no long being stretched. This item may work for some people but it did not work for me. If I was to buy another item to help with my Plantar Fasciitis I would probably choose the Air Heel.

“Unbelievable!”

Reviewed by Postdog on 04 January 2010

I have PF in both feet. Have done for two years, and being a postman, not good!. In the summer I had a particularly bad attack which actually left me unable to walk normally for weeks. Even after cortisone injections, my feet still weren't right. I bought one of these and I was sceptical but I had to try as my job was at risk. Being curious, I actually tried wearing it while watching the TV instead of overnight, and I couldn't believe how relaxed and refreshed my foot felt after wearing it. More to the point,no pain when I stood up. To cut a long story short, I bought another one next day and use them regularly - not ALL the time, just when I think my feet will benefit. They are comfy to sleep in too, though 2 of them underneath the duvet does feel a bit awkward when you turn over. I'd thoroughly recommend them, and even did so to my doctor who could only offer sympathy and injections.

“Oh so comfortable”

Reviewed by Lynndyloo on 14 May 2009

This is so comfortable it truly deserves a medal - there are no hard plastic bits to give you bruises on your other leg through the night as it is all softly padded - it is also really comfortable to wear and the adjustable straps are long enough to fit anybody's foot/leg - and can be adjusted easily if allow for swelling if necessary.
