The PhysioRoom.com Defender Knee Brace is a tool free mesh brace for Osteoarthritis and issues with Bow Leg. The extra extension buffer relieves pain and discomfort by slowing down knee extension, preventing hyper extension and over exertion of the injured limb. Engineered to be comfortable and breathable, the Defender provides excellent support through a 3-point load shifting system that corrects knee joint alignment.
The PhysioRoom.com Defender has been specifically engineered for patients with for Osteoarthritis and issues with Bow Leg . Using aircraft grade aluminum hinges the Defender adds rigidity and support to the injured knee with its patented ROM design for easy, tool free motion. The ROM hinge allows for an easy, fast range of motion setting that, when coupled with the extra extension buffer helps to relieve pain and provides optimum support. Featuring an open wrap-around design and adjustable straps, the Defender can be easily applied to the injured limb through the 3 point loading system. The Coolplus fabric lining keeps the wearer cool and dry by wicking away moisture from the skin ensuring that optimum comfort is always achieved.
Setting is simple and easy to do. Simply remove the PhysioRoom.com cover and the orange flexion and extension buffer stops and replace with the relevant flexion and extension metal stops. The sizes are corresponding and marked F and E accordingly. When the stops have been set in place, simply replace the PhysioRoom.com plastic cover until it clicks. Your knee brace is now set and ready to use. As the injury heals and more movement is required around the joint the stops can be replaced by those with less ROM support.
In general, 80% of OA patients suffer from a Bowleg problem which affects the inside of their knees and causes medial knee pain. For these users, the hinge will rest on the inside of the knee. The left Defender Knee Brace will be worn on the right knee, while the right brace will be worn on the left knee.
For the remaining 20% of OA patients who suffer from Valgum (Knock Knee) and lateral knee problems, application is reversed. The hinge will rest on the outside of the knee. The left brace will be worn on the left knee, and the right brace will be worn on the right.
Measurements should be taken 6" (15cm) above the mid-patella. Please select which knee you require when ordering.

I originally bought the LEFT one of these for my left leg, but after trying it on my RIGHT leg....i find it works much better. As the metal hinge part is against the inside of my knee, it re-alines my knee and helps me to walk correctly....and the pain is massively reduced. I suffer with hypermobility syndrome, so my knee is rarely where it should be. I find i have to walk slower, as it feels abit restrictive...but it help so much with the pain. You will however need baggy trousers to fit this brace underneith. My skin is also like tissue paper, and find this can rub around my knee cap (as that also is not where its suppose to be) so a thin tubigore bandage or mesh may be advisable if you have skin like mine. I am very slim, 6st 4lbs...but found the size small adjusts nicely to fit someone even as small as me! Will be looking into ankle supports too very soon. Thank you physio room! :-)

Very high quality product. It proved to be in excess of my actual requirements but I would certainly recommend the product to someone with more advanced OA than mine.

While offering great support for a very weak knee with ACL damage, allowing a range of activities, the brace is uncomfortable at the back of the knee, which makes it difficult to wear for long periods
