What is an Inflatable Stability Disc?

A 34cm, inflatable disc used for proprioception and balance training, complete with pump and exercise guide. Colour may vary.

When can I use it?

During the rehabilitation of knee and ankle injuries, or as a preventative measure against these injuries.

Commonly used for, following or prevention of Sprained ankle, Ankle surgery, Swollen ankle, Ankle instability, Anterior Cruciate Ligament tears and surgery, Posterior Cruciate Ligament tears and surgery, Medial Collateral Ligament tears and surgery, Lateral Collateral Ligament tears and surgery, Meniscal (cartilage) tears and surgery.

How does it work?

Is easily inflated using the supplied pump. The Inflatable Stability Disc can then be used on a non slip surface in the same way that a wobble board is used.

Following knee and ankle injuries there is often a loss of balance and proprioception in the affected leg. Re-training balance and proprioception is vital in the rehab process, and can greatly reduce the risk of re-injury. The more these attributes are practised, the better they become.

For best results the user attempts to balance on the Stability Disc while in bare feet. The pimpled texture of the Stability Disc provides sensory feedback to nerve endings in the lower limb and these are processed by the sensori-motor system, which is responsible for balance and proprioception.
