What is the Donjoy Reaction Knee Brace?
The Donjoy Reaction Knee brace was developed by an orthopedic surgeon for patients who suffer with Anterior knee pain related to a range of conditions including:
- Chondromalacia Patella
- Osgood-Schlatter disease
- Quadriceps and Patella Tendonitis/Tendinosis
- Mild Osteoarthritis (OA)
- Patellofemoral (PF) Syndrome tracking issues
The Reaction Knee Brace features an elastomeric web design, which provides energy dispersion and shock absorption for progressive pain relief. The brace has adjustable straps which stay in place and they can also be customised for comfort and desired degree of elastic return.
When can I use the Reaction Knee Brace?
The Reaction Knee Brace can be used to relieve Anterior knee pain during daily and sporting activities including contact sports. It can also be used following a Cartilage injury or when there is mild Arthritis in the knee. The Reaction Knee Brace features flexible membranes, which elongate with joint motion and return to their original dimensions, absorbing shock and moving peak loads away from the painful area. The knee brace provides an unrestricted, intimate fit around the patella and the mesh backing is both comfortable and breathable. It also features dual-axis hinges which are flexible and provide additional support to the knee. Indeed recent research carried out by the University of Central Lancashire (ULAN) has concluded that the Donjoy Reaction Knee Brace 'significantly reduces pain' in Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) patients giving them a sense of improved knee stability during functional task. These changes are clinically relevant and most likely a consequence of altered lower limb biomechanics due to an improvement in movement control at the knee.

“Good quality knee brace BUT...”

When i bought this brace it came with a knee sleeve to wear under the brace. At first it was very comfortable. But as i got the strength back in my knee and the quad muscles started to grow back to normal size the knee sleeve became far too tight as there is not much stretch in the elastic. I tried to order a bigger size sleeve from this site but they dont sell this sleeve seperatley. I priced other sleeves and they want approx £40! I think if they are going to sell this brace then surely they should sell a replacement sleeve for this particular brace. The brace itself however is very good. I have used it in judo, wich was ideal as there are no big bulky hinges to get in the way. It is also very comfortable to wear all day.

The reaction knee brace has given me the opportunity to continue with my hobby of rambling. I am aware I will need a replacement knee in the near future but the brace I hope will delay the need for surgery.

At last a brace that fully replicates the action of the knee whilst actively playing sport (in my case tennis) the plastc weblike membrace seems to compensate for my ligament weakness and gives me more confidence to make quick adjustmennts that are neccessary during play. It seems to be a quality product and I hope it is as durable as it looks.. I would recommend it to amyone who has knee problems and wishes for more mobility in action.
