What is the Bauerfeind GenuTrain Knee Brace?
This high quality stabilising knee support is an ultra-comfortable hinge-free knee brace that provides support for cartilage injuries, mild arthritis and collateral knee ligament injuries.
When can I use it?

Which size do I need?
With the knee bent at 30 degrees, measure the circumference of the calf 12cm below the knee joint (A) and the circumference of the thigh 14cm above the knee (B)

How does it work?
The GenuTrain Knee Brace uses a particularly stretchy, breathable and moisture-wicking knitted fabric, to give effective compression and excellent comfort.
The integral ring-shaped visco-elastic insert surrounds the patella, helping to hold the patella in position and massaging the soft tissue around the knee, as the knee moves.
The integral visco-elastic pad has friction zones, covered with raised nubs, that give the effect of friction massage when the knee is in motion. Embedded in the insert zone is a guide that holds the patella in position, while two spiral stays, located on either side, give additional support.
Bauerfeind Knee braces are dispatched directly from the manufacturer in Germany and are usually received the next working day on orders placed before 1pm. However, please allow up to 5 days for delivery.

My requirement: comfortable support, for knee with long-standing injury & some arthritis, to give pain-free day-long trekking over rugged terrain. I was advised to buy the Genutrain S, with hinges, but thought the basic Genutrain might be more suitable. Bauerfeind UK website has more info on the latter, including a useful illustrated brochure. Claims to massage the knee as you exercise, giving a therapeutic effect. After e-mail exchanges with PhysioRoom and discussion with GP I decided to go for the base version. I wasn't sure after 1st day in les Hautes Alpes de Provence but by the 3rd day I was pain-free and could just forget about the knee. Terrific! Therefore, I can substantiate the claims in my case, and can recommend it, even at 105GBP.
