As worn by Wayne Rooney! Short pneumatic walking brace for foot and ankle injuries. Features an adjustable pneumatic cushioning system to reduce swelling.
Take it to fracture clinic following injuries such as:
Based on shoe size.
The hard plastic shell provides immobilisation and protection like a plaster cast, but the lighter weight makes the Aircast SP Walker much more comfortable and convenient. Four AirCells inside the shell can be custom inflated using the hand bulb (included) for a 'total contact' fit. This provides compression for the swollen ankle, which helps to reduce swelling and accelerate rehabilitation.
The Aircast SP Walker can be taken off to allow the patient to bathe and undertake rehab exercises. This improves hygiene, helps prevent ankle stiffness and muscle wastage - further reducing injury healing time.
Aircast walking braces can be used from the initial injury until you are ready to start walking normally. Once your doctor indicates that it is OK to resume partial weight bearing, then the Aircast SP Walker allows safe walking while still providing protection and compression. By putting gentle compression on the injury the healing process is further accelerated.

The great thing about this brace is that you can take it off easily, in comparison to what the NHS supply, this is deluxe. One of the things about breaking one's leg or ankle is the feeling of vulnerability when one has to go out, this particular brace makes you feel like you are in an armored truck! You feel very safe and secure in it. Wonderfully cushioned too, the NHS ones are not sufficiently padded. I only wish I had been given the option to have this instead of the initial plaster cast, having one's leg in plaster for nine weeks which I had to have and not being able to wash the leg all that time was disgusting. It will take a year for my particular injury to heal, this brace is light and wonderfully comfortable. Many thanks, beautifully designed!

I bought the Aircast after breaking the shaft of my 5th metatarsal and wasn't coping with crutches. This boot gives a great feeling of security. It is easy to wear and comfortable. It isn't as heavy as the CAM boots nor as high up the leg. The air cushion grips your heel gently to add to the feeling of security. An excellent invention.

Our daughter was finding it very difficult to get around having suffered a break in her 5th metatarsal. The foot brace supplied by the NHS was not providing enough support to get around and remain mobile whilst recuperating.
The Aircast SP walker has helped her overcome her immobility and regain her confidence on her feet a lot quicker than expected. She has started her Physio and hopes to be back on her feet ( SP walker OFF ) as soon as possible.
I would recommend this product to anyone with a similar injury

Just purchased (19th Dec 2011) and received, the next day, the aircast for my daughter who has a severe sprain 3 months on and in excruciating pain. All attempts at support have been to no avail. The aircast provides the support without aggravating the injured area. Worth every penny just to see her able to move about without wincing after each step.
Thanks

I broke my 5th metatarsal and had a plaster fitted which was very uncomfortable and meant that I needed crutches to move at all. I rang the hospital to ask if I could wear the Aircast instead of the pot. Instantly I could move more freely. I could go swimming (I took it off for this) and use a stationary bike as well as doing some weights on a swiss ball. I used the crutches to go out but could move about in the house without them. I could also take it off to go to bed ,have a shower and do pilates and phisio. After 6 weeks I did not have as much muscle wastage as a much younger man at the same clinic who had endured the plaster cast for 6 weeks. Also protects your foot really well. An excellent product that does exactly what it says on the tin.

I broke my 5th metetarsal just 10 days before my wedding day and had a plaster cast for a week. I found this Aircast SP Walker by reserch on the internet and bought it straight away by next day delivery. It arrived very quickly and I was able to walk same day. Finally, we had a wonderful wedding!! I just put my long dress on and some people even did not notice that the bride had a broken foot :) So, highly recommended!!!

I recently suffered from a severe broken ankle and ankle sprain.
After being in a cast for 7 weeks, then came time for my rehabilitation. I couldn't put any weight on the damaged ankle at first, but when l was able to finally put some weight through l found the aircast SP Walker invaluable. It allowed me to walk much more than l would have been able to without it. This, in turn has sped up my recovery.
I wish l had known that the SP walker could have been used much earlier, to help with speeding up my recovery. I would have asked the hospital to remove my cast earlier had l known about it.
I cannot highly recommend this enough for people to use if they suffer an ankle break or very bad ankle sprain.

After 3 changes of plaster cast in first 10 days for metatarsal fractures, my left lower leg had shrunk even more.
Hot, uncomfortable, loss of sleep, considering hypnotherapy for my increasing plaster psychosis, it was now appearing only to fuse my ankle joint, no way I was going to have another. Only then remembered Wayne Rooney having a boot, and I'm a health care professional and football fan! Researched it and persuaded a colleague to remove plaster cast and spent the next 4 1/2 weeks in the Aircast SP.
BRILLIANT!!!!. Almost the best money I have ever spent. Weirdly no-one in the orthopaedic out patients said a thing.
Comfortable, supportive, protective and you can take front off to ventilate when resting. Wish i had thought of it sooner.

I have a fifth metetarsal stress fracture, but it's essential I keep at work. The high level of swelling meant I was offered a walking cast rather than a plaster cast by the hospital so I came home with a Darco brace which was initially comfortable but didn't seem to keep the foot in one place - a bit too much room to move around. This meant the foot became increasingly painful as the day progressed. I bought the Aircast from physioroom with confidence as I had the return guarantee if it was not suitable. This boot is FAR superior to the Darco. Firstly the Aircast cushions the base of the foot far more efficiently than the Darco, the rest of the padding is also far more comfortable. Once the top plate is in place the foot feels well protected from knocks and the foot is secure, not sliding around the boot. The air cushions inflate to keep the ankle immobile which (while not necessary from my point of view with no ankle injury) helps to keep the whole foot securely in place in the boot. The SP Walker has a better base shape, and feels more solid when walking. As I'm trying to keep my weight off the outside of the foot the rest of the foot was taking more strain, this boot seems to prevent the problems caused by this to a greater extent.
It's not a cheap option, but if like me you want the added security, comfort and protection I have no hesitation in recommending it.
