Combines the therapeutic benefits of controlled compression to minimise bleeding and swelling, and cold therapy to minimise pain. Better than an ice bag or ice pack for wrist and hand treatment.
The Aircast Hand & Wrist Cryo/Cuff™ requires a cooler and tube assembly to function, which are available separately, as well as part of a complete Hand & Wrist Cryo/Cuff™ Kit.
How it Works
The Aircast Hand & Wrist Cryo/Cuff™ is the ultimate in ice therapy and compression. It consists of a nylon cuff, which is used with a blue plastic cooler and blue rubber tubing (available separately). Iced water from the cooler circulates through the cuff, which fits snugly around the wrist and hand, and is secured with Velcro straps. The water pressure applies a compression of 30mm Hg to the wrist and hand when the reservoir cooler is held 50cm above the cuff. This comfortable compression and cooling is maintained when the connecting valve is disconnected.
This ice and compression therapy can be continued over a whole day or evening, as the cooler holds enough water and ice for between six and eight hours of ice therapy.
When to use it
Many elite athletes such as baseball players and professional tennis players use this product to cool inflamed tissues. Anyone who has suffered a wrist fracture or wrist sprain can also benefit from using the Aircast Cryo/Cuff™. They are most commonly used following wrist fractures and following surgery to the wrist joint.
