By examining the total number of days lost due to reported muscle injuries and the total number of muscle injuries sustained it is possible to present the average duration that a player is out with a muscle injury at each club.

It should be stressed that there are varying degrees of muscle strain, so some clubs could be suffering more Grade 2 (significant fibre damage) strains compared to Grade1 (minimal fibre damage) strains. Grade 2 muscle strains can take between 4 and 6 weeks to heal, compared to Grade 1 muscle strains which normally resolve within three weeks.

Norwich City's data is skewed by the fact that they only sustained one reported muscle injury during 2004 – 2005. Thomas Helveg strained a calf muscle and was out from mid January until mid March.
